Carve out some ghoul times!
Halloween is quickly approaching, but it's not too late to have a halloween party with some good friends and family. You can have all your guests dress up in costumes and have a costume contest, sing karaoke, and even partake in some board or card games. If kids are invited set up a table for them to carve small pumpkins to take home at end of the night. Halloween themed appetizers and cocktails, are sure to bring your theme together and make your party a hit. Below, I have listed a few of my halloween party must haves.
Hot Dog Mummies
1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
20 miniature hot dogs
1 large egg
2 teaspoons water
1/2 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
Dash hot pepper sauce
Separate crescent roll dough into two rectangles; seal seams and perforations. Cut each rectangle horizontally into 10 strips. Wrap one strip around each hot dog.
Place 1 in. apart on an ungreased baking sheet. In a small bowl, whisk egg and water; brush over tops. Bake at 375° for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Add eyes with mustard. In a small bowl, combine the dip ingredients; serve with mummies. Yield: 20 appetizers (about 1 cup dip).
1-18oz box brownie mix eggs, water and oil called for on box
15-18 large marshmallows
12 oz white chocolate chips
1 TBS coconut oil, or vegetable oil (to thin)
Black decorating gel, or frosting
Line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper or foil, and spray with non stick spray
Preheat oven, prepare brownies and bake according to package directions.
Allow brownies to cool and remove from pan using edges of foil or parchment
Cut brownies into 15 - 18 individual pieces.
Top each piece with a large marshmallow.
Microwave white chocolate chips and oil, in 30 second increments, stirring after each, until smooth.
Using a spoon, carefully drip white chocolate completely over the tops of each marshmallow, so they are covered completely and it drips on to brownies.
Allow white chocolate to set.
Use black gel to make eyes and a mouth on each "ghost"
Black Magic Punch
1 (750 ml.) bottle dark dry red wine
2 c. dark fruit juice
1/4 c. brandy
1/3 c. elderflower or raspberry liqueur
1 c. blackberries, plus more for garnish
1 c. sliced black grapes
2 sliced plums
Orange twist, for garnish
Mix red wine, fruit juice, brandy, liqueur, blackberries, grapes, and plums in a large pitcher. Chill 1 to 2 hours.
Pour into glasses and garnish with blackberries and orange twist.
